Colombian Francisco (aged 50) has been in the advertising industry for more than 30 years. Majoring in Advertising and Marketing of UJTL, in Bogotá, he started his career back in 1979 as a member of the creative team of one of the most important local agencies of that time, Camilo Salgar Jaramillo Publicidad.
A pioneer of Sports and Event marketing commercialization in Colombia, he afterwards spent five years in this area of the business, founding what is still today the leading local company in that field, Efectimedios. In 1985, he was hired by McCann-Erickson in Cali, Colombia, as an account executive. Less than 18 months later, he became Managing Director of the agency, which grew it's total billings from 15% to more than 35% in four years.
Awarded twice with the "HK McCann" award as the agency's best Latin American professional, Francisco has worked at the New York, Atlanta, Detroit and San Francisco McCann offices, as well as in Columbia University. In 1996 he left McCann to found SSPM, along with José Miguel Sokoloff and Humberto Polar, an agency that one year later became Lowe-SSP3, and for which he currently is Co-Chairman and CEO. Lowe-SSP3 has been the most awarded Colombian agency for the past 15 years, having achieved important recognitions in all the world's most important festivals. The agency is also a top 3 in terms of effectiveness and billings locally.
Since the agency's foundation, Francisco and his partners had opened 10 more companies in the most relevant areas of the Business: Media, Research, Digital & CRM, Social Networks, PR, Free Press, Branding, Direct Marketing, Promotions, Trade and Event Marketing, generating the most complete Advertising Group in Colombia.
A guest speaker in several International events, Francisco has been also Chairman of the Board of Directors for Ucep, (Colombian Agencies Association), having been elected as such by the local industry for 5 years in a row. He is also currently Regional Co-Coordinator for Lowe LatAm.
